I Have Been Neglecting My Blog!

You know when you get really busy and you sometimes forget the little details. That's what I have been doing with this blog. I am not going to make any outrageous claim like blogging every day or anything like that, but I will try to do better. In my own defense, I did blog more last year than the previous year.

Just a few teaser shots from my first esession of the year. More to come later.

Although I am in the middle of wedding session, I am still doing quite a few engagement sessions on my few free weekends or days. So I am a little anxious to show off a few of them before the natural order of the esessions and weddings for my wedding clients this year. Check out just a few of these teaser images, but I promise to follow up with part 2 of Tiffany and Alex shortly.

Alex and Tiffany, Part 2

For their wedding day in early May, the weather was very nice and we did some great portaits just outside their church/reception site. I was in love with a bright red door and was happy to use it as a background. Alex and Tiffany were great with all my ideas and suggestions and are a really sweet couple. Thanks Tiffany and Alex for letting me be a part of your special day. DP

Alex and Tiffany, Part 1

It has been a busy year so far. I have reaached the middle of my wedding season and I haven't posted any new images. So I am playing a little catch up on blog posts.

Tiffany and Alex were my first wedding couple for the year and their engagment session was totally fun despite the ground being damp, the sky looking overcast, and the sun playing peak-a-boo during our session. Here are a some of my favorites from the day. DP

Tiffany's Mardi Gras-Themed Sweet Sixteen

I was thrilled to cover a Sweet Sixteen with a Mardi Gras Theme for wedding and event planner Hector Rivera of Savvy Occasions. His daughter's event was classy and fun. The event was held at Thommy G's in Audubon, New Jersey and every detail was taken into account. From the masks for all attendees to the centerpieces and other decorations. Everyone had a great time and the food was tasty. The cake was great to photograph and eat. Enjoy a few images from this event. DP

Where Have I been?

Sorry folks for the delay in posting. I have been shooting various things that I have wanted to share with you. I have images from: the Philadelphia Flower Show, St. Patrick's Day, Engagement Sessions, Weddings, Easter, my new logo, a Mardi Gras Theme Sweet 16 and Sushi. So a big post is coming in days. Happy 2009

Yes, I am a little late for New Year's, but better late than never. I just wanted to showcase some photos that I put together in a few different design forms. Yet, I don't claim to being a designer. In my opinion, good Graphic Design is a lost art form. Not everyone is a good designer or some people are just not very comfortable with designing things. I believe that I fall into the latter category. And guess what? I took a Design class in grad school and I just wasn't very comfortable with it all. I need rules because left to my own devices, things can get a little hairy....now where are those bad design examples....oh yeah...somewhere destroyed forever (actually they are packed away in a box with other stuff from grad school). But I digress. So the point of this post is to show off some things that I have recently put together in a very simple and tasteful design manner. I am open to all critics...so tell me what you think. DP

Sorry for the delay in posting this one. Today I had the pleasure of traveling to NYC to the PDN Photo Plus Expo. It was my first time attending this photo expo. I went up to see the Nikon booth (Cliff Mautner spoke and made really want to get the D700; Joe McNally spoke on speedlights too)), especially, the Shootsac booth (finally purchased a shootsac and met Jessica Claire, more about that later), the Tamron booth to check out their 70-200mm 2.8 lens, the MPIX booth, and various other booths. So like I mentioned, I met JC and she was very gracious and wonderful. I babbled on like a goof about how great she was and asked her what it was like to be her. Yeah, I really asked her that (I know it was an amateur thing to do). After much thought and analysis, I have come up with only this nugget "heroes or people who you admire are that because something about them stirs or inspires something in you." Could I have played it cooler? Maybe, but I'd like to think that she may have realized how much I admire her talent and skill and my reason for babbling. Anyway, this shy chick from Philly did have the courage to ask her to take a picture with me, so that is pretty cool to me. I also attended a seminar by Michele Celentano whose work I follow a few years back and I played it cool with her (only after my JC meeting earlier in the day). This photo expo experience rounded out my year of meeting some of the pros in the wedding photography world. I also met Cliff Mautner (former photojournalist for the Philadelphia Inquirer and a Nikon shooter) thanks to Karina and his work is also inspiring. I have a few more shoots left for this year, but I have learned a great deal this year and I have grown photographically speaking. Another post hopefully sooner rather than later. DP

Shout Out to Charyl and Roger

Today is the first year anniversary of my friends Charyl and Roger. Derek and I shot their wedding last year, please check out the photo montage that I created from some of the pictures from their wedding day.

Congrats to Charyl and Rog and I hope that you two finally tasted those sodas from Jones Soda. At Jones Soda, they let you put your own picture on a soda label and give you space for a personal message. This is my favorite picture of Charyl and Rog from their wedding day and the one I selected for their soda labels. Charyl: Please send me a picture of the bottle label when you get a chance. DP

5.4.08 Monique and Donovan E-Session

This was my first engagement session of the season. I met up with Monique and Donovan on a late Sunday afternoon. We were suppose to start at Love Park, but it was such a nice day and the skateboqarding crowd outnumbered us in the park. So we started across the street with the life-size game pieces. I loved the jewelry that Monique wore...she was ultra hip for downtown Philly on a lazy afternoon. These were some of my favorites from the day.
